Safety & Sea Survival

Course Code: SSSC
The Safety & Sea Survival course was developed by Yachting Australia in response to a coronial inquest resulting from six deaths in the 1998 Sydney-Hobart Yacht Race. Conducted in both the classroom (14 hours) and in the water (3-4 hours) the course covers all aspects of safety and survival including:
Preparation and Planning
Duty of Care, Safety Planning, Emergency Planning, Safety Equipment
Offshore knowledge and experience
Weather, Heavy weather strategies, Vessel Management
Emergencies

Emergency communications, pyrotechnics, Vessel damage, Man Overboard, Fire, Abandonment, Search and Rescue

Complements
TL4 Competent Crew Course

Aim

Teach safety aspects of yacht sailing and general seamanship skills.


Duration
18 hours includes practical sessions (flare & liferaft drills).
